FHLBank has forged a partnership with Garfield Jubilee Association

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh (FHLBank Pittsburgh) has forged a partnership with Garfield Jubilee Association, Inc. as part of the Bank's community engagement and focus on youth empowerment. Employees identified this as an important social issue that could be supported through various employee-led initiatives, delivering lasting impact in a meaningful way. The goal is to support the current needs of youths from diverse backgrounds across the Greater Pittsburgh area and to provide opportunities to mentor and develop the next generation of business, government and community leaders.

Staff from FHLBank Pittsburgh will volunteer in a variety of ways to help empower youth 16 to 24 years of age, including: tutoring, mentoring and coaching so they can obtain their high school diplomas; helping with housing and community development projects to enhance their skills in construction and teach leadership and community service to give back to their communities; providing financial literacy information and seminars to learn the importance of savings and wise banking; and, working on special projects that will benefit the youth and the community. This partnership will help empower youth as well as help them to become economically self-sufficient.

Garfield Jubilee is so proud and excited to be selected as FHLBank Pittsburgh's community partner. We strongly believe that this partnership will empower youths as well as help Garfield Jubilee grow into a stellar organization.

A reception was held on September 7, 2016 at FHLBank Pittsburgh in which bank employees learned more about program and services. Garfield Jubilee youths and staff spoke about the impact that the program has had on their lives and expressed their hopes and aspirations for this new partnership.
