Garfield Jubilee Association Inc. along with five other Pennsylvania YouthBuild Programs will participate in the first Pennsylvania YouthBuild Leadership Day on Wednesday, April 18th in Harrisburg. The newly created Coalition is comprised of individual organizations operating in Allentown, Johnstown, Philadelphia, Reading and York, Pennsylvania.
YouthBuild students will advocate the importance of the YouthBuild Programs and voice how the programs have impacted their lives. The YouthBuild Programs provide educational opportunities and job training for low-income, young men and women 16 to 24 years of age who did not complete high school or are not regularly engaged in workforce. The programs enable young people to revitalize their communities by assisting in building or renovating homes for low-income and homeless individuals. Most importantly, it gives young people a voice and enhances their leadership skills, so they can make critical changes in their communities and their lives.
Youth from the various programs will speak with their respective State Representatives to discuss how the YouthBuild Programs transform the lives of many young people in Pennsylvania and across the country. We are so proud of our young people who are working to enhance their skills so they can continue to become productive citizens and our future leaders.
