[Back to Top of Page]	Employment Training Garfield Jubilee Association, Inc. works with families to help them acquire the skills they need to be independent and self-sufficient. Office Technology Program GJA facilitates an Office Technology program for community youth. The program, provided through classroom and actual work experience, emphasizes a curriculum that provides direct exposure and hands-on learning among modern office technology and related equipment. Trainees also learn to utilize database and management information systems, including Microsoft Office Tools: Word, Excel and PowerPoint, in addition to specific (MIS) applications. Also included, hands-on orientation and the utilization of scanning devices, digital camera technology and electronic technology, and electronic information transfer and storage. There is a core emphasis on basic computing, internet/e-mail, and resume writing. Other services include placement assistance and academic enrichment. [Back to Top of Page] Construction Training Program GJA’s Construction Training Program provides a curriculum that incorporates direct exposure, through actual hands-on training, among construction /demolition projects involving both residential and commercial developments throughout the Garfield neighborhood. We provide academic enrichment and computer instruction that addresses basic computing, internet/e-mail, resume writing, and vocabulary grammar building. We seek to identify and enhance all essential tools necessary for individual career development from occupational skills building through job placement assistance via linkages with local contractors, as well as CareerLink ad neighborhood job centers.
