Families Get the Support that they Need

Family Savings Account Program

The Family Savings Account Program (FSA) is an asset-building tool that changes dreams to reality. It resulted from legislation signed by Governor Ridge in June 1997. The goal of the program is to encourage people with low-to-moderate incomes to save money and to move towards greater economic self-sufficiency. As a part of the program, financial literacy workshops are given as a tool to help individuals reach their savings goals. FSA is an asset-building program, and the money saved must be used towards the purchase of a home, starting a business, financing home repairs, or educational expenses. There must be close and detailed follow-up case management with clients to run a successful program.
